News: The Society is finalising its bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund for grant funding to enable an archaeological survey of potential Anglo-Saxon timber halls in the Glebe, Aberlady. The site hosted the largest collection of Anglo-Saxon stray finds yet discovered in Scotland, while a complete reconstruction of an 8th century Northumbrian cross was erected nearby in 2011. A decision is expected in January 2014. If approved, the project will be supported by a wide range of associated arts and crafts and other workshops celebrating the village’s Anglo-Saxon heritage.
